São Gonçalo do Amarante Church
The São Gonçalo do Amarante was built after a change was done in a warehouse. It is
located on the Jacutinga Hill, the actual "Bairro do Farol". Historically speaking, it is one of the most important churches of the city. When it
was built, at the end of the 19th century, little by little several elements were put there, that are part of the religious architecture
so that, later on, the warehouse had the appearance of a church. The building was established as a temple only in 1888. |
