Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church was inaugurated in 1718, February. It has a simple
façade corresponding to the architectonical style of the old local constructions. The interior contrasts with the facade, due to the exuberance
of the objects kept in the church interior. The ceiling of the major chapel was painted by Mestre Athaíde.
The Idea of constructing the building came from the three brotherhoods that
received black people for the celebrations. It was a rare event at that time, due to slavery and prejudice.
