Aquário de Natal

Aquário de Natal

A good option in Natal is to visit the aquarium, place where it’s possible to “dive” into the sea life on firm land. Opened since 1999, it’s located at “Redinha Nova” and shelters about 60 sea species, like “garoupas”, eels, lobsters, crabs, “piranhas” and amphibious in several stages of their evolving process, so the public can know the way animals of those species develop themselves.

Since Natal has no zoo gardens, the aquarium ends up sheltering some wild animals donated by Ibama. So, other great attractions of the place are the snakes, lizards and some apes. The most demanded animals and great prominence of the aquarium are the alligators, sharks, which can be touched by visitors, and the penguins, which came from the aquariums of Ubatuba and Santos and are sheltered on a cold chamber.
