Museum of Inconfidência was inaugurated in 1944, exhibiting documents and objects
of the epoch of Inconfidência Mineira and other objects related to the historic and Art Patrimony of Minas Gerais. The museum has an auditorium
and a room for sporadic exhibits, baptized as Sala Manuel Ataíde.
The building was already used as jail and councilmen chamber. Its construction
begun in 1784, but it was concluded only in 1846, due to several interruptions. Protected by Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico
Nacional (IPHAN), it’s one of the most important buildings of the architectonical body of Ouro Preto.
