 Porto Alegre - Preservation Areas - Lami Biological Reserve

    The biological reserve houses the meteorological station and nursery of native sprouts. There are more than 300 plant species and hundreds of mammals, birds and reptiles. It was created in 1975 with the proposal of making scientific research and to protect the ambiental environment. The principal preservation aim is the Efedra, a rare specie of a native climber of Rio Grande do Sul. The reserve houses species such as the capybara, ratões do Banhado and porcupines besides animals threaten by extintion like the other and the alligator, as well.
