Once you know Canela, you can fell a new emotion. The City smells the woods and the lovely tastes from its unforgettable landscapes, enchanting the visitors with a delicious sound and vision poetry that shows a unique beauty and full of surprises. A place where you can find peace all over the year; during summer, the city is full of flowers and opens the water season with several options of ecological and adventure sports; in the winter season, the beauty of the snow and the refined European hospitality invites us to taste cheese and wine, without forgetting the beauty of the mountains.

This place has become a reference in ecotourism, offering activities in the nature. Besides the traditional walking tour and horse riding, typical of this region of the country, it also offers radical sports with various options like rafting, mountain bike, rappel, canyoning, Tyrolese and rope-swing.

Among all the surprises shown to enjoy the most demanding tourists, Canela offers a perfect link between the human being and Mother Nature. Its exotic landscapes are perfectly adapted to the weather that goes up to 23°C in the summer and down to -2,7°C during the winter. The cold in the winter covers all city with snow performing amazing images. The city challenges you to visit its richness and to solve the mysteries of its fabulous geography.

The urban part of the city is of colonial architecture that was developed, at the beginning, through the wood extraction and later with the weaving and leather articles. That is how the city was known till the 50’ when it emancipated from Taquara and changed it’s focus to improve the ecological tourism and to make the region one of the most important national script, together with it’s neighbor, Gramado.

The old “Tropeiros”  tells the origin of its name came from the leafy tree that left its shadow over them, who stopped by to rest from the long journey. It worth while to stop at this place to enjoy this European site in the Brazilian land.
