The museum is located in the oldest street of the city, Amparo street. In an old house of the 18th century, that brings baroque references of this period. It was built in the first half of the 18th century, between 1745 and 1749 to serve as an episcopal residence. It is classified as a house-museum, due to the pernambucana house of the past century.
