Rio de Janeiro - Beaches - Copacabana Beach

It is one of the most visited tourist points of Rio de Janeiro and is frequented by many beautiful and famous people who consider Copacabana to be one of the best beaches of the city. Famous all over the world and immortalized in Bossa-Nova songs, the Copacabana beach is a natural continuation if the Leme beach and is 3 km long with large strips of white sand.

Besides the sea that mixes calm parts with other parts with strong waves, the large sidewalk is always very busy. It has a biking track for those who appreciate the sport and several benches and food stands for prefer just to watch the movement and and the natural beauty that complement the urban images of the city. A good program for those who like to get up early and watch the hauling of the fisherman at the end of Post 6.

The Copacabana beach is also famous for being one of the most traditional place of the country to end and begin a year. The spectacle of fireworks held on New Year Eve is famous all over the world. The first was held in 1976 from the building of a hotel located on Avenida ATlântica when a falls of fireworks fell down from the building. After that, the New Year Eve in Rio was never the same. The fireworks became a tradition and is part of the ritual for the New Years of the cariocas.
