| Rio de Janeiro - Museums - Tram Museum |
The Museu do Bonde (Tram’s Museum) has a patrimony of 300 pieces that illustrate
all the history of this transport. Largely used in the beginning of the 20th century, the trams still work, up to day, in the traditional
district of Santa Teresa, in Rio de Janeiro.
The great attraction of the permanent exhibit of t'he Tram’s Museum is the Photo
Exhibit. There are registers of scenes that picture the tram’s line implantation and the tram works until the almost total extinction of the
vehicles, in the 60’s. The ticket-register clocks, bells, banisters, motorman’s uniforms and some old cars, from animal traction to electric, are
also exposed.
Visitors may watch a video, check the iconographic patrimony and discover musics
and chronicles that were made in honor to the trams.
