The Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon) is just another present
that Mother Nature gave to Rio de Janeiro. It is a genuine natural mirror, where the mountains that surround the city are permanently reflected.
In the afternoon, everything gains a impressing golden color with the sunset reflected in the still water.
Alongside, there are sports courts, skating rink, a track fo walking, a bike path,
two sports clubs, a helipad and even a gastronomic center, where it is possible to find food of all the types and nationalites.
In the 7,5 km of its margin, there are also three parks that offer many choice for
recreation.
The Parque dos Patins (Patins Park) is located beside the helipad. Various
activities are hold there, specially skating. Now, the Parque da Catacumba (Catacumba Park) is almost an open air museum, with countless
sculptures decorating the track for walking. The Parque dos Taboas (Taboas Park) has several sports courts.
Besides the splemdorous appearance, the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is very well
located, surrounded by the most agitated carioca districts, like Ipanema, Gávea, Botanic Garden, Leblon and Lagoa. Therefore, it is not necessary
to leave the place to find action because when the night arrives, the people gather together to wait for the shows of live music which are held
on its margins.
The Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas is protected by the Historical Heritage of Rio de
Janeiro.
