Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church was founded in 1713, to substitute the old chapel
in devotion to the saint. In the land conceded to the brotherhood there were two particular real properties, what occasioned a delay of nine
years in the devotee’s plans until the land was emptied and the works, initiated.
Maybe at that time, the project was excessively ambitious, since the structure
was never finished due to lack of money, occasioned by the decadence of the mining and the slave abolishment. So, the construction was ceasing
gradually.
Even not following the traces of the original blueprint, the church still has
historic importance. In contrast with the rustic beauty and simple architecture, there are magnificent paintings.
