Sabará - Historical Building - Kaquende Fountain

Chafariz Kaquende

Chafariz Kaquende

Dated from 1757, the fountain is known by the legend which says that the visitors who drink its waters someday will return to Sabará. The fountain keeps the temperature all over the year, independently of the weather conditions.

Another of the various and famous stories of Kaquende was about an evil spirit who came out of the fountain and seduced young ladies of the region who passed over there. As well as in other constructions, the portuguese escutcheon that ornamented the fountain was removed from there in the occasion of Brazil’s Independence.
