JOCKEY CLUBE
São Paulo's Jockey Club was
founded on March 14, 1875 with 73 members. The first race was on October 29,
1876 at the Hipódromo da Mooca, Bresser Street. Only later on, on January 25,
1941 the Race Course of Cidade Jardim was inaugurated . Jockey Club has gone
through more than a century keeping up with the city's history. It has
about 2.000 English pure blood animals and the centers of training spreading
through the interior of state add still another 1000 animals. It has four tracks,
one made of grass and other made of sand that are used for official races.
