Visa Waiver:  Citizens of the following countries do not need visas when entering Brazil for tourism or business purposes (up to 90 days): Andorra - Argentina - Austria - Bahamas - Barbados - Belgium - Bermuda Bolivia - Chile -  Colombia - Costa Rica - Denmark - Ecuador  Finland - France - Germany - Great Britain - Greece - Hungary - Iceland - Ireland - Italy - Israel - Liechtenstein -  Luxembourg Malaysia - Monaco  Morocco Namibia - Netherlands - Norway - Panama -  Paraguay - Peru - Philippines - Poland - Portugal - San Marino  Slovenia  - South Africa - South Korea- Spain - Surinam - Sweden - Switzerland   Thailand - Trinidad & Tobago - Uruguay  Vatican - Venezuela

 

Tourist visas will be granted to foreigners traveling to Brazil for the following purposes:

A)     Tourism;

B)     Visiting family/friends;

C)     Unpaid participation in athletic or performing art events or competitions;

D)      Participation in international seminars and conferences, provided that no income is received in Brazil.

 

Necessary documents for visa application:

(1)     Application through travel agencies for a Japanese national will require a certificate of residence "Jumin-hyo" issued within the jurisdiction. Other nationals will be required an Alien Registration Card "Gaikokujin Touroku Shoumeisho";

(2)     Valid passport for a minimum of 6 months (with blank visa pages available);

(3)     Round trip ticket or proof of means of subsistence in Brazil for the duration of stay. (Recent personal account bank statement of a minimum balance of US$2,000 depending on the period of stay);

(4)     One recent 5 by 7cms photo, color or black and white, front view, full face, light background. Photographs from vending machines and tinted photographs are not accepted;

(5)     One visa application form per applicant, both pages filled out and signed;

(6)     Payment of consular fee in the amount of 3.750 yens for a Japanese national applying personally at the consulate, and 5,250 yens through travel agencies. For other nationals, consular fees will be determined based on reciprocity;

(7)     Minors under 18 years of age, if not traveling with both parents, will have to present parents’ authorization together with copies of passports of both father and mother showing their signatures;

(8)     For those participating in international seminars and conferences, invitation letter/pamphlets are also required;

(9)     Additional information pertaining to the applicant may be requested at the discretion of the Consulate.

 

Attention:

I)      Visa is valid for first entry within 90 days from the date of issue. Multiple entry visa is valid for 90 days from the date of first entry.

II)     Visa processing takes approximately 10 working days.

III)    Visa must be applied in person or by a travel agent registered with the Consulate.
