Pinacoteca do Estado |
With a collection that gathers more than 5000 works, “Pinacoteca do Estado” has
works of artists like Cândido Portinari, Anita Malfatti, Victor Brecheret, Tarsila do Amaral and Di Cavalcanti, besides french sculptures of
Bourdelle, Rodin and Maillol. One of the prominences is the collection of brazilian art of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Projected in 1987 by Ramos de Azevedo, the building occupied by “Pinacoteca do
Estado” was originally constructed to host “Liceu de Artes e Ofícios”, a place destined to teach people the profession of artisan so they could
help in the development of the city, which prospered with the commerce of coffee.
