Inaugurated in 1978 as a way to celebrate the 70 years of the arrival of the
japaneses in Brazil, the museum actually keeps more than 1000 objects that narrate the course of the immigrants coming from Japan, part of their
culture and their consolidation history in Brazil, what originated the district of Liberdade.
Among the exhibited objects there are books, documents, photos, kitchen utensils,
magazines, mockups of the first houses constructed by them in brazilian territory, typical clothes, religious goods and even a miniature of the
ship KasatoMaru, which brought the immigrants. Sporadically there are several other exhibitions, where more than 15000 pieces are exhibited in
rotation system with the themes: "The japaneses in the new world ", "Contributing for the development " and "Searching
new directions".
