Considered one of the main monuments of the city, São Joaquim Matrix Church impress
the visitors of the city for its beauty. Totally built with soapstone drawn from near hills transported in ox cars, the church started to be
erected in 1918 and was inaugurated only in 1935.
In the external part of the church there are sculptures of biblical prophets and
Adam and Eva. Today, the church is the stage of several regional celebrations, religious or not, like fairs, processions and festivals. |
