Rua do Giz and Rua da Estrela are the main ones in São Luís historic center. Both
of them famous for the historic story houses, which houses government institutions. At Rua do Giz, there are the Centro de Cultura Popular
Domingos Vieira Filho and also the former residence of Baronesa de Anajatuba, now the seat of Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico
Nacional is located.
What also calls the attention in the street is the long stone stairway, which
continues until Praia Grande. There are also good bars and restaurants. |
