São Luís Carnival |
The carnival of São Luís is quite peculiar. As well as in other points of Brazil,
the isle attracts tourists from all over the world, who, instead of watching the parades, they get entertained in a different way. Characters
like fofões, ursos and Cruz-Diabos are images that crowd the streets of the city during the feasts.
The crowd follows partying through the historic places and nobody is out of the
commemoration, excited by percussion and band musics. It’s possible to find traditional carnival blocks spread in the city. The district of
Madre Deus is where the carnival happens in a more feverish way.
Spend the carnival at Maranhão also has another advantage: in the last day of the
feast, revelers can rest at the seaside, recovering energies for Festa de Lava Pratos, which occurs in the next week. |
