Olho d'Água Beach |
It has strong winds, propitious to the practice of windycar, which are cars with
canvas like parachutes or other canvas sports. It is located 13 km away from downtown. Inhabited by fishermen, Olho d'Água Beach is surrounded by
dunes and low vegetation.
The place carries the legend of the daughter of an indian chief. She fell in love
for a handsome young man. Because he was so handsome, Mãe D'água (also known as Iemanjá, lady of the ocean) also got enchanted, causing a great
conflict. Due to the supernatural powers of Mãe D'água, the young man was captivated and taken to the depths of the ocean. The young indian died
from sadness and her tears originated two fountains.
Nobody knows if the story is true. But, one of the fountains forms a creek that
goes to the ocean, used by tourists to remove the salt excess. |
