Created in 1981, Josué Montello House of Culture has the objective of helping to
keep and promote studies, researches and works related to literature and other arts, besides social sciences and geography. Its original seat was
at Largo do Ribeirão and only later it was transferred to Rua das Hortas, where it is now located.
It counts with a patrimony of around 35000 pieces, among rare books, magazines from
all over the world and an expressive photographic heritage, beside tapes and slides. The biggest purpose of Josué Montello House of Culture is to
house objects and works of the writer Josué Montello. Visitors can find rare letters, pantings, decorative plaques and medals that belonged to
the writer.
