Designed in the Largo do Pelourinho in the Historical Center of Salvador, the
scenery of many of the story written by the author. The Casa de Jorge Amado has a vast collection of the woks of the author and maintains a
Project to encourage reading and writing. It also stimulates the visitor to drive into the history of the Baiana literature not only because of
the words of Jorge Amado but by the works of other author that are part of it.
By appoint, students can visit the museum and perform researches with audio-visual
resources. The house holds periodic events like lectures, record releases, conferences debates and expositions focusing literature, human science
and art in general.
It offers a space baptized as Café Teatro Zélia Gattai that is the meeting point of
artists and intellectuals and has a cultural program on Saturdays, giving space to new artists and for experimental music.
For those who are interested in taking home a souvenir or buying one of the books
written by Zélia Gattai and Jorge Amado, there is a shop on the ground floor where the visitor can find besides the books, t-shirts, shorts and
china. Everything that is reverted to the work of the Foundation.
