de Iemanjá (Iemanjá Party)
At Largo de Santana do Rio
Vermelho, since early morning, Candomblé entities, "babalorixás",
fishermen, tourists and other curious people sing and honor Iemanjá, on
the largest public Candomblé manifestation in the State. Gifts and
requests to the "queen of the sea" are placed in Casa de Iemanjá and kept
in baskets which, in the end of the afternoon, follow the main gift (offered
by the fishermen community) and are thrown in the sea by a procession with
hundreds of boats. In the evening, the celebration goes on in the
neighborhood, where there are also typical food and drinks in the stands.
