Padre Toledo Museum |
The museum was baptized with the name of the priest and revolutionary leader of the
region of Rio das Mortes Carlos Correia de Toledo e Mello, vicar of Church Santo Antonio in 1777. Situated in a manor with 14 rooms, the museum
occupies the house that held the first organized meeting of the revolts, in 1788.
The place is curiously decorated with paintings of typical brazilian fruits in the
ceiling. There’s also a panel with the representation of a couple of shepherds in a field, being one of them caucasian and the other one, african.
The space comports, besides furniture, paintings of that time and images. A screen of São Mateus and a bookstand deserves emphasis.
