Considered one of the biggest and nicest temples of the State of Santa Catarina,
“Matriz Nossa Senhora Mãe dos Homens” draws attention by its gothic, but uncommon, architectonical style. Its construction form arcs that
remember a crucifix. In the building’s upper part there’s the dome, which symbolizes the "crown" of the city’s patron saint.
In the church, the mortal remains of the church’s founder, priest José Gonçalves
Espíndola, are kept. It was inaugurated in 1973, eight years after the start of the works. |
