Urubici - Hill - Morro da Igreja

Morro da Igreja

Morro da Igreja no verão

Morro da Igreja

Morro da Igreja no inverno

At “Morro da Igreja” in 1996, the lowest official temperature of Brazil was registered, a little lower from negative 17ºC. 29km away from Urubici’s downtown, the place is used also as a base for the air force, which controls the aerial space of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

Even during Summer it’s necessary to wear coats and, during winter it always snows. The best visitation time to avoid the fog is between 10AM and 3PM.

From the summit of “Morro da Igreja” it’s possible to see “Pedra Furada”, which is a rock with an opening, with a circumference of 30 meters that looks like a window. There’s a legend that tells that the Jesuits hide there 40 gold and silver pieces, moments before being expelled by the indians.
