| Chapada dos Veadeiros - Excursion out of the Park |
After visiting the Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros, it is worth to visit
some of the various waterfalls and trails that exist in the neighborhoods. Even though the access is not as controlled as in the park, generally
the places are extremely well conserved.
The majority of the attractions are located on private properties and, contrary to
the park, a guide is not necessary for the visit, all that is necessary is the payment of a small entrance. However, it is advisable to use a
guide because they know the region very well and take care of the visitors.
The most popular excursions out of the Park is nickname “Circuito São Miguel”,
which are: Vale da Lua (Valley of the Moon), Salto Raizana and Morada do Sol (Home of the Sun).
Vale da Lua (Valley of the Moon)
It is a rock formation more than 1 billion years old that was completely sculptured
by the waters of the Rio São Miguel and gained the rounded contour. The craters in the rock form large natural pools where bathing is permitted.
It is one of the principal post cards of the Chapada dos Veadeiros.
Salto Raizana (Raizana Waterfalls)
The Raizana Stream Cascades 70 meters before it flows into the Rio São Miguel. On
the trail that goes to the waterfalls, there is a small lagoon where it is possible to have a natural hydro massage with the force of the water
that flows from the rocks.
Morada do Sol (House of the Sun)
It is one of the most sought out excursions by senior tourists since it is easy to
reach. They are rapids that form natural pools.
Other Attractions
Jardim Maytrea (Maytrea Garden)
It is a place seen from a belvedere that is located on the rood that goes to the
Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros. It is located over an enormous quartz mine whose luminosity can be seen from outer space. It is
considered to be the cardiac chacra of the planet by the mystics.
Morro da Baleia and Morro do Buracão(Whale’s Hell and Hill of the Large Hole)
The two natural monuments are located between the city Alto Paraiso and the Vila
São Jorge. They have 6 some trails and small natural pools. Various legends say that the presence of aliens is there in the region.
Peito da Moça
Two peaks, one next to the other, more than 1.500 meters high. It is not open the
public.
Águas Quentes
They are two lagoons that are located on private property. The water is hot and
the place can be visited even at night. Wonderful for relaxing after long walks.
Cachoeiras Almécegas
Two waterfalls one 50 meters high and the other 15 meters high, where bathing is
permitted. The water runs along the walls of rock, surrounded by vegetation. A beautiful scenery. |
